As a key civic institution that is lacking in the Philippines, a science museum is an essential tool for our nation to address the significant gap in its math and science education. In the 2003 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), the Philippines ranked 42nd among 45 countries at the high school level. As Nobel laureate Robert Solow's economic research described, a country's level of science and technology has a direct correlation with its level of economic growth.
In a nutshell, it is:
• a PhP 1 Billion project;
• located in a super-prime 12,000 sqm site in Bonifacio Global City, right across from the future 6-star Shangri-La Hotel and Philippine Stock Exchange;
• filled with over 250 interactive exhibits in 5 galleries and an outdoor area called Science-in-the-Park. The galleries are: Atom, Earth, Life, Universe, and Technology.
• a world-class project with international partners and consultants such as National Geographic and the Singapore Science Centre.
The Mind Museum is envisioned to be a learning facility, and not an entertainment center or video arcade. It has a full-time Science Curator. The project proponent is the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc. (BAFI), with a Board of Trustees comprised of individuals from Ayala Land, Inc. and the Campos Group of Companies. Our chair is Mr. Joselito D. Campos Jr. and our vice-chair is Mr. Fernando Zobel de Ayala.
We are now in the middle of our fundraising campaign, having raised 90% of our PhP 1 Billion target. Donors are recognized on our Founder's Wall IN PERPETUITY as part of a pioneering group of companies and individuals who share the vision of building the country's first world-class science museum. Our roster of sponsors include: ABS-‐CBN, Akari, Ajinomoto, Ayala Foundation, Ayala Land, BPI, CEMEX, Dai-ichi Electronics, Del Monte, Delfi (Goya Chocolates), Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, Globe Telecom, HSBC, IMI Group of Companies, JPMorgan Chase and Co, Lamoiyan Corp., Malampaya Consortium, Manila Water Corporation, National Book Store, NutriAsia Inc., PASAR, SC Johnson & Son, Pilipinas Shell, Sony, Sony Ericsson, St. Luke's Medical Center, Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Timezone, Uratex Foam, and the families of Joselito D.
