Ways to Create More Storage at Home

By: Eric Capacia

Having that extra storage nowadays means paying more premium. But fact is, earning that extra premium to afford additional storage space is sometimes not an option. So, what to do? You are left with the option to maximize the space presented to you.

Here are some tips:

  • The easiest way to have an additional storage at home is to create them. This does not mean you need to construct cabinets. Instead, itemized your stuff and get rid of those you no longer need. Optionally, you can donate them to charity
  • Use clear, plastic containers to organize cluster. Using clear plastic is also a no brainer since you can clearly see what you stored inside
  • For odd or irregular corners in your home, you can build cabinets to have extra storage. You are actually hitting 2 birds with one stone: storage and getting rid of awkward corners.
  • Hang or mount the items that you can. This can be televisions, kitchen pans or even bicycles.
  • Use multi-functional pieces. This means they can be used as decorative items at the same time storage. Ottoman is one good example.
  • Boxes placed under your bed are also a good idea. Just make sure you clean it every so often to avoid dust.
  • When building cabinets, plan or anticipate what you want to place inside. This means you can add another layer in the cabinet if space permits.

These are just some of the ideas I can present to you. Again, be creative and wise on how to use the space in your house. Having clutters is something you really cannot afford if space limited.
