It's Hue

By: Eric Capacia

Try standing at one corner of your house and observe its entirety carefully. Are you happy with its look? Try to look at the color scheme and how they created depth. Do you feel like you are looking a flat, boring canvass? If at point during your observation you feel like something is missing, it is probably because you house is missing hue, accent, colors and probably even furniture. Today, I will give you some tip on how to give your space that extra "uhmp"; so the next time you observe your home, you will feel complete.

Add Depth
The easiest way to add depth to any given space is by hanging framed mirror on your wall. Not only do they add depth, they also create an illusion that you have a bigger space. Another tip is to hang framed paintings on your wall.

If you are in the mood to take the challenge up a notch higher, you can repaint your wall. Instead of painting the wall uni-toned, add layers of colors that belong to the same hue family. One personal favorite I can suggest is using earth-toned colors. They are elegant and very effective in adding depth on your walls.

Inject Colors
This is where the fun part of re-decorating your house - adding colors. There are many ways how to add colors to any given space: through curtains, throw pillows, area rug, sofa, ottoman, accent tables and a whole lot more. Have fun adding them but at the same time do not overdo it. This is the most important decorating tip I can give you, know when to stop. Too much of colors in your house might create confusion instead of interest.

Missing Furniture
This is probably the most overlooked idea when it comes to adding character in your space. One indication that you have a missing decorative item is the look of boredom or emptiness when you look at the space. Some ideas I can give you are adding corner or center table, live plant, console table, ottoman or even hat or jacket hangers.

The important thing when you want to add hue or depth to you house is to know what to achieve. By closely looking at your space, determine what you want to achieve, make a research and execute according to plan.
